Fire Guts 3 Shops In Nasarawa-Eggon

Fire has razed three shops, destroying property worth hundreds of thousands of naira in Nasarawa-Eggon, Headquarters of the Nasarawa-Eggon Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

The? News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that a one-room apartment was also gutted.

Ifeanyi Titus, the owner of I.K Electronics Shop, one of the shops affected, told NAN that he was sleeping when voices of neighbours screaming for help suddenly woke him up.

“I heard voices of neighbours yelling? for help as fire was burning? the three shops located in front of their rooms. The fire aloso extended to my room.’’

Titus said that he was unable to remove anything from his room, adding that he lost property worth more than N500,000.

On his part, Chiboy Isiogu, a trader in kitchen utensils, who was also affected, attributed the cause of the fire outbreak to electrical fault in one of the shops.

He? said the fire lasted about 30 minutes before it was put out, adding that he lost items worth more N300,000.

Also speaking, Gabriel Agbo Emmanuel, a photographer, said that everything in his shop got? burnt.

He said? he had barely benefitted from the business which took him long time and plenty resources to establish.

According to him, he lost a photo printer, cameras and other valuable digital equipment in the fire.

The victims appealed for assistance from the Nasarawa-Eggon Local Government Council and other well meaning individuals.
