
President Goodluck Jonathan has approved the appointment of Mr Zakari Ibrahim, as the new Controller-General of the Nigerian Prisons Service.
A statement issued on Saturday in Abuja and signed by Mr Nanven Nimfel, the Director/Secretary of the Civil Defence, Fire, Immigration and Prison Services Board, noted that the appointment would take effect from Jan. 1, 2012.
Before his appointment, Ibrahim was the Deputy Controller-General of Prisons, in charge of administration at the headquarters in Abuja.
The statement reads in part: “He succeeds Mr Olusola Ogundipe, whose voluntary retirement after 34 years of service was also approved by Mr President’’.
