Gyan For Ghana Despite 3 Weeks Absence

Ghana key striker Asamoah Gyan may make the Ghanaian national team squad for the Nations Cup despite being ruled out of action for three weeks.??

The UAE-based attacker suffered what looked like a serious injury on Friday just weeks before the start of the tournament in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea. The Al Ain striker was told he needs to rest to be able to fully recuperate by the time the tournament starts on 21 January. “The doctors have told me that I need to rest for about three weeks for me to be able to fully recover from the hamstring problem,” Gyan told MTNFootball.com.??

“I am feeling some pain in the thigh right now but I know in two days’ time the pain will subside for me to start my recovery process. With this I am hopeful that I will be fully fit be the time the Africa Cup of Nations starts.”

Ghana will start its camping in South Africa January 7, in preparation for the tournament.

Gyan was expected to join the squad the day camping opens but with this injury it is not known if he will be fit to arrive in time.
