Boko Haram Threat: ARP Urges NASS To Reconvene

The African Renaissance Party (ARP) yesterday urged the National Assembly to reconvene as a matter of national urgency, to help tackle the Boko Haram threats.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the appeal follows a three-day ultimatum by the sect to Christians and Southerners to leave the north.

A statement by Mr Udoka Udeogaranya, Lagos State Chairman of ARP, said there was need for the lawmakers to enact a law that would punish perpetrators and ensure that everyone joined hands to end the menace.

“It is our opinion that the ultimatum by the sect– amid a rising tide of violence – gives a profound recognition that punitive measures are needed,’’ the party said.
