Hoodlums Hijack Protest In Ilorin, Torch Gov Ahmed’s Campaign Office

Hoodlums yesterday in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, hijacked the fuel subsidy withdrawal protest and in the process unleashed terror on residents. This was even as they torched the campaign headquarters of Governor AbdulFatah Ahmed on Western Reservoir Road.

Three cars were also burnt at the secretariat.

The hoodlums were also said to have vented their anger on the Chairman, Ilorin West Local Government as well as the Special Adviser on Emergency, Hajia Tawa Kadir and Alhaji Musa Abdullahi respectively.

Aside from collecting ransom from the two public officers, the suspected hoodlums reportedly threatened their lives.

Hell was let loose at the Gambari area of the metropolis where some suspected thugs from Idi-Ape area were ambushed by another set of hoodlums over monetary issue.

Broken bottles littered the roads and rendered them impassable by motorists.

The police were later drafted to the area to restore normalcy.

Other areas within the metropolis where the hoodlums fomented trouble include Aba-Yawo, Okelele, Balogun-Fulani, Emir’s road, Agbo-Oba and Offa Garage.
