Mimiko Promises Better Deal For Judiciary

The Ondo State Judiciary has been assured of a better deal in 2012, particularly in the areas of infrastructural development and provision of enabling environment for quick dispensation of justice.

Giving this assurance, the state governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko promised that the state government was ready to support the state judiciary to perform its onerous responsibilities of putting in place necessary measures that would hasten the dispensation of justice.

The governor made the promise yesterday, at a dinner organised by the state government for the state High Court Judges at the Government House grounds, Alagbaka, Akure.

Mimiko revealed that the determination of his administration to make the state judiciary the cynosure of all eyes remained irreversible, adding that the on-going renovation of infrastructural facilities in different courts across the state will continue until each of the courts wear a new look.

He commended members of the state judiciary for their support and cooperation with other arms of government in the state, saying that without efficient performance of their duties, his administration’s success story would not have been possible.

Mimiko who lauded the judiciary for the introduction of a special prerogative of mercy for a well-behaved prison inmate awaiting trial to mark last Christmas, advised that the gesture should be sustained to become an annual event.

Commenting on the state of the nation, Mimiko noted that the peaceful way the people of the state went about their protest over the removal of fuel subsidy by the Federal Government was an indication that the people are peace-loving and matured.
