Edozien Tasks Nigerians On Nation Building

The Asagba of Asaba, Prof. Chike Edozien, has called on Nigerians to join hands to build the nation in order to have a better country.

Edozien made the call in Asaba on Thursday at the inauguration of the executives of Rebuild Nigeria Initiative (RNI), a non-governmental organisation (NGO) in the South-South zone.

He stressed the need for Nigerians to be involved in nation building, saying: “Nigeria is not what it ought to be both internally and externally”.

He explained that the inability to integrate the federation into one unit had affected the well being, unity and level of development of the country.

“It is only when we are united that we will be able to speak with one voice and move the country forward,” the Asagba of Asaba said.

He charged Nigerians to come together, irrespective of their religious background, to support the fight against corruption in the country.

“One of the ways to rebuild Nigeria is to fight corruption to the barest minimum at all helm of affairs; and there is need for more fundamental approach to sanities the society.

Also speaking at the occasion, the National Coordinator of RNI, Mr Hope Rex-Lawson, appealed to Nigerians to embrace dialogue rather than violence in dispute resolutions, noting that violence and street protests impacted negatively on the growth and development of any nation.

Rex-Lawson appealed to the citizens to take advantage of the fuel subsidy removal and attendant employment policies of the Federal Government, saying that such step would help to improve the nations’ economy.

The Delta Coordinator of RNI, Dr Ronald Ehime, said that the organisation was formed with the aim of rebuilding various sectors of national economy “for a better Nigeria.”

He said that the organisation would complement the efforts of government in providing security, unemployment and business enterprise, and to have offices in all the states, including Abuja.
