JTF Arrests 36 Kidnappers, 11 Armed Robbers In Rivers

The Joint Task Force (Operation Pulo Shield) has said that it arrested a total of 36 suspected kidnappers and 11 suspected armed robbers in Rivers State in the last one month.

This is even as the unit also said it destroyed no fewer than 108 illegal refineries in the state as well as arrested 34 suspected illegal crude oil thieves in the state within the period.

The Commander, Sector 2 of the JTF, Brigadier-General Tukur Buratai, who disclosed this during a media briefing in Port Harcourt, yesterday, said 13 hoodlums were killed during a shootout with security operatives within the period during which over 60 hoodlums were wounded, adding that the unit also rescued no fewer than 20 persons who were kidnapped by hoodlums within the last 28 days.

He disclosed that the unit also foiled six robbery attempts as well as four kidnap attempts within the last one month.

Buratai further stated that the JTF lost two soldiers while four others were wounded within the period,

Buratai, who is also the Commander, 2 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Port Harcourt, said the unit recovered six vehicles, including four speed boats, as well as five AK-47 rifles, 26 short-guns, two pump action guns, and one pistol.
