NDLEA Arrests Blind Man With Cannabis In Enugu

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Enugu State Command, has arrested a blind man for being in possession of cannabis.

The blind suspect, Mr. Hassan Mohammed, from Borno State, was arrested with 15.5 kilogrammes of canabis at the cattle market in Oji-River local council of the state.

The command arrested a mother and her son, Chidera and Ngozi Agu, from Amechi, Awkunanaw, Enugu South local council, with cannabis cleverly packaged to look like ‘okpa’, a local bean cake delicacy popularly hawked as a snack in the South East.
Another suspect, Sunday Ameh, was arrested with 25.9kg of cannabis neatly packaged and concealed in food flasks.

All the suspects were arrested with the drug recently in different parts of the state.
Also, the command, acting on a tip-off, impounded 400kg of cannabis in Enugu-Ezike, in Igboeze north local council.

Two persons, Monday Audu and Monday Adejo,? from Kogi State who were conveying the stuff in a lorry, were apprehended.

“This was the highest single seizure in the state and one of the largest single seizures recorded in the Eastern part the country since the drug war started,” said Anthony Ohanyere, the state commander of NDLEA, while parading the suspects.
