The Police in Gombe were reported to have shot a youth suspected to be a bomber as he attempted to plant an explosive device at the residence of a serving Senator representing Gombe North Senatorial District.? An Eye witness (name withheld), explained to newsmen that the suspect was seen at the Senator’s residence at about 8pm, on Wednesday night, in company of two others on a motorcycle when they attempted to go into the premises of the senator.
According to him, the explosive device exploded and injured the policeman on duty as he tried to stop him.
The witness further said that the policeman raised an alarm and was able to shoot the suspect in the leg which facilitated his arrest.
Meanwhile, Police Public Relations Officer,PPRO, Ahmad Muhammad, confirmed the incident? and said that the matter was still being investigated.
