ACN Demands Sanction Against Kogi Customary Court President

The Action Congress of Nigeria(ACN) in Kogi State has called for the sanctioning of the President of the Customary Court of Appeal in the state, Justice Shaibu Ibrahim, for allegedly violating the laws of the country.

The state chairman of the party, Alhaji Haddy Ametuo made the call in an interview with newsmen in Lokoja yesterday.

He said the decision by Justice Ibrahim, to swear in Captain Idris Wada as the governor of the state, after the verdict of the Supreme Court that nullified the tenure of former governor, Ibrahim Idris, was an insult to the judiciary.

He however commended the state chief judge, Justice Nasiru Ajanah for being alive to his responsibilities, by ensuring that the right thing was done, by swearing in the speaker of the state House of Assembly, Hon. Abdullahi Bello as the acting governor.

Ametuo further applauded the Supreme Court for delivering a sound judgement on the issue of tenure elongation, saying it was long awaited.

He also called on the acting governor to dissolve the cabinet he inherited from the immediate past administration, and bring on board, men and women of integrity, to assist in moving the state forward.

The ACN chairman stressed that the party was watching the unfolding scenario in the state with keen interest pending when Independent National Electoral Commission( INEC) would come up with their own position.
