How We Tackled Militancy, Criminality In Rivers – Amaechi

Rivers State Governor, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has said that it was through determination that the state government succeeded in tackling militancy and criminality in the state before October 25, 2007.

Amaechi, who said this in Port Harcourt, capital of Rivers State, on Saturday at the sendoff party in honour of the out-going Managing Director of the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG), Mr. Chima Ibeneche, explained that security in the state had greatly improved since he became governor.

The governor said, “We can recall that there was security crisis in Rivers State when I became governor. There was no night life. Businesses could not operate at night. But now security has improved in the state.”

Amaechi, who is also the chairman of Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF), re-assured the management of the NLNG of the Sptate government’s support and preparedness to provide a peaceful atmosphere in the state for business and investment to thrive.

He praised the outgoing NLNG boss for his sterling leadership qualities as well as his increased awareness and compliance with corporate governance which made the company to succeed.
