The Rivers Government is to acquire modern firefighting equipment to effectively combat incessant fire outbreaks and other emergencies in the state.
Mr Emeka Nworgu, Commissioner for Special Duties, said in a statement in Port Harcourt on Tuesday that old facilities would also be refurbished.
Some of the equipment includes fire trucks, uniforms, staff bus, computers, internet facilities and video machines.
The commissioner urged men of the fire service to shun corrupt practices while performing their duties.
