The sum of N637, 933, 644.52 has been approved by the Delta State government for payment of 2010/2012 Students’ Special Assistance Scheme (SSAC) for 28, 849 students.
Buchi Aninye, State Chairman of the Bursary/Scholarship Board who disclosed this to newsmen in Asaba??? frowned at? fraudulent act of some students during the registration exercise that produced 52, 297 students from 145 Institutions noting that electronic screening method helped to prone the figure to 28, 849 students.
Aniye said that some students were involved in multiple registration? by registering in more than one institution adding, that most of them were not Deltans upon investigation.
He explained: “The Board has resolved to introduce more proactive strategies to tackle multiple registrations by commencing the implementation of Biometric Information System (BIS)”.
