Pope Commends Obi For Returning Schools To Missionaries

Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State yesterday received commendation for the second time from an unusual quarters, Pope Benedict XVI.

The Pope who earlier commended Governor Obi through his Bishop, Paulinus Ezeokafor who had, during his last Ad Limina visit told the Pope,? how the Governor has transformed Anambra State? and was working closely with the Church to uplift? the State, commended him again for the return of Missionary schools back to the Church.

Speaking through his representative, the Apostolic Nuncio, Archbishop Augustine Kasujja during the dedication of All Saints Catholic Church, Ihiala, single handed built by Dr. Obinna Uzor, he noted that the gesture would help to restore morality among the people. He urged other Governors to emulate Obi by taking decisions that were in the interest of? the people of God.

In his own remarks, Gov. Obi described the event as the celebration of the spirit of philanthropy and called on wealthy Anambrarians? to emulate Dr. Obinna Uzor in the use of their wealth to help the society rather than enslave her.
