Bomb Scare Causes Major Panic In Kaduna

Again, suspected Bomb at the Ungwa Sarki area in Kaduna yesterday caused major panic, forcing residents of the area to abruptly abandon their businesses, while? vehicles and persons where diverted to take other routes.

The substance packaged in a big black polythene bag suspected to be a bomb was dropped about the same place where the bomb that claimed the life of a police Anti bomb Squad officer, Sunday Badang was planted.

Although, a laud sound was heard from around the scene of the suspected ‘Bomb’ after the arrival of the Anti Bomb Squad, it sounded like a gun shot.

But the police Public Relation Officer (PRO) DSP Aminu Lawan who confirmed the incident, denied that it was not a gun shot. He however said, “The Suspected object was blown off by our men, the polythene bag contained caftans packaged in a black polythene bag with no improvised explosive device (IED) found in it.

?“Our attention was drawn to the polythene bag and our Anti bomb Squad went there and discovered that it was not a bomb as suspected, he stated.

The area has been thoroughly searched and our men are combing the entire area, DSP Lawan added.

Our correspondent who was at the scene reports that, the environment was immediately barricaded as people transacting businesses around the scene where advised to close to allow the men of the Anti bomb squad carry out their duties without any interference.
