Fear Of Jail Break Grips Prison Officials In Edo

There is panic among prison officials in Edo State following the recent jail break in neighboring Kogi State as security around all the correctional facilities in the state have been beefed up to forestall any incident of jail break.

LEADERSHIP observed that the Edo state controller of Prisons Command has enforced stop and search of all visitors to the two major prisons and others in the state.

Fierce looking armed prisons guards and other plain clothes security officers now take position in strategic places around the Sapele Road location of the Benin Prisons as well as that of the Oko prisons.

The command has also? forced all vehicles and their owners to park at a designated car park far from the prisons wall.

Many of the visitors including lawyers, it was learnt now pass through security screening?? before being allowed in.

This development it was learnt is a? routine measure adopted by the state prisons command to guide against any possible attack on the prisons or any of its facilities across the state.
