A Gwagwalada Upper Area Court on Thursday ordered the remand of a 26-year-old trader, Samuel Nathaniel in Kuje Prison for raping a five-year-old girl.?
Alhough Nathaniel pleaded guilty, the judge, Mr Babangida Hassan, deferred sentencing to March 21.
The police prosecutor, Asp. Samuel Ochefu, had told the court that the accused, on Feb. 16, had carnal knowledge of a five-year-old girl in his shop at Kuje Market.
Ochefu said the little girl sustained serious injuries and was taken to the Kuje General Hospital, where she was treated at a cost of N153, 200.
He said during police investigation, the accused confessed committing the offence, adding that it was not Nathaniel's first time of committing such an offence.
“It was a habitual act; he has done this to three children at three different occasions.”
