The Enugu State Police Command has discovered the bodies of suspected cable vandals in a NITEL manhole at the Ogbete Main Market in the state capital.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Ebere Amarizu, told journalists in Enugu on Thursday that the bodies of the three young men whose identities had yet to be known were found following a tip off.
He said the police had commenced investigations into the matter, adding that health authorities had been contacted to remove the bodies.
Meanwhile, night guards at the market who preferred anonymity said that the attempted vandalism happened on Saturday.
The security man, said, he and his colleagues heard some movements and voices around the location of the manhole and alerted the police but on arrival, the suspects had disappeared only to be found dead on Wednesday.?
