Police Intensify Effort For Rescue Of Sen. Sekibo’s Wife

Mr Ben Ugwuegbulam, the Spokesman for the police command in Rivers, has said that the police have intensified the search for the rescue of Sen.? George Sekibo’s wife, Mrs Asime George-Sekibo.

Sekibo represents Rivers East senatorial district in the National Assembly.

Asime was kidnapped on March 22 along East-West Road in Port Harcourt while she was returning from University of Port Harcourt, where she attended lectures.

Ugwuegbulamtold the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Port Harcourt on Monday that a joint team of the State Security Services, the army and the police were involved in the search.

“We are working jointly and carefully to ensure that the senator’s wife is rescued unharmed,” he said.

Meanwhile, a source from the Sekibo family said that the kidnappers had called the family for a ransom but did not disclose the amount.

NANlearnt that Asime was driving a Hummer jeep when she was kidnapped with three other women and a baby who were with her in the vehicle.?
