Let’s Put Lid To A Lie

As controversy continues to trail corruption allegations between members of the House of Representatives Committee on Capital Market and the DG of SEC, Adesuwa tsan examines the issues.

Instead of drifting away like smoke from a dying fire, it seems the drama between the Director General of the Securities and Exchange Commission, SEC and the House of Representatives Committee on Capital Markets; is only heating up!

The resignation of the chairman and his committee from the investigation on the activities of SEC has only added a new dimension to the bribery allegation war between the two parties with the memo cited by Hembe to buttress his point that SEC was the party who initiated the “bribe” while he and his committee fought “hard to resist the attempts”.

SEC’s responsed to the memo as Nigerians keep watching the drama as it unfolds. As the blame is shifted to a new person everyday. We wonder who blink first!

Meanwhile, many other members of the House are not taking this case lightly. While some groups see it as a direct confrontation with the entire House of Representatives, others think that the chairman got what he deserved.

A group of members who were gathered outside the chambers analysing the situation shortly after the resignation of Hembe and his group think SEC may have bitten more than it can chew.

Is Oteh begging?

Arunma Oteh has been going on bended knees to seek the forgiveness of the deputy speaker, Hon Emeka Ihedioha for dragging him and his family into the investigative hearing brouhaha. It was learnt that she was at his house to plead that her utterances be pardoned and treated like they were never said. This woman sure has a lot on her hands.

But Mr Chairman, how come you are in posession of documents from my office?

Still on the SEC, Reps saga. Arumah Oteh could no longer disguise her surprise at documents that the committee uncovered to base their enquiries on. In this particular instance, she was surprised that the committee had her employment agreement with all the signatures and stamps to certify its authenticity.

Sources confirmed that a good number of her staff are very willing to sell her out by providing the documents that will “nail” her. It is left to be seen if they will cooperate with the El-Sudi-led ad-hoc committee which has taken over the probe.
