NSE Turnover Drops By 37.5%

Volume of shares traded on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE)? dropped by 37.5 per cent on Wednesday as 253.92 million shares worth N2.42 billion were traded in 4,181 deals.

This was in contrast to the 406.29 million shares worth N 3.11 billion exchanged in 4,011 deals on Tuesday

The market capitalisation and the All-Share Index dropped by 0.08 per cent due to the huge price losses recorded by some blue chips.

The index, which opened at 20,916.03, depreciated further by 16.07 points to close at 20,899.96.??

The market capitalisation also lost N5 billion to close at N6.628 trillion against the N6.633 trillion posted on Tuesday.

NewGold led the losers’ chart with a loss of N5 to close at N2, 573 per unit, while UACN followed, depreciating by 78k to close at N29.01 per share.

Oando dipped by 62k to close at N22.01 per share, Julius Berger lost 40k to close at N31.60, while Access lost 32k to close at N6.26 per share.

On the other hand, Larfarge Wapco recorded the highest gain of 88k to close at N41.88 per share, while CAP trailed with 84k to close at N17.64 per share.

Cadbury appreciated by 60k to close at N12.72 per share, Presco gained 50k to close at N10.50, while Berger paint rose by 40k to close at N8.40 per share.

The banking sub-sector remained the toast of investors, accounting for 157.52 million shares worth N1.34 billion in 2, 361 deals.

Zenith drove activities in the sub-sector as investors exchanged 44.87 million shares worth N522.82 million in 320 deals.

GTBank sold 33.75 million shares valued at N481.69 million in 652 deals. (NAN)
