Kebbi Govt. Releases N50m For Payment Of Registration Fees For Indigent Students

The Kebbi Government has released N50 million to the Usmanu Danfodio University, Sokoto, as part payment of registration fees for indigent students in the institution from the state.???

Alhaji Murtala Yauri, the Executive Secretary of the Kebbi State Scholarship Board, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday that 3,850 students would benefit.???

He said that the verification of the students had been carried out and that the beneficiaries had already been determined by the verification team.

The executive secretary said that more funds would be released as final payment.?????

He appealed to the university to register the verified students as adequate measures would be adopted to complete full payment.?????

Also speaking, Malam Saidu Mohammed, President of the Kebbi State Students Union in the university, called on government to urgently release the full payment for the registration.

He said the full payment would ensure smooth registration for the students.???

He said that 400 students were yet to be verified and as such the university might not register them for this academic session as the registration was scheduled to close on Friday.

NAN reports that N123 million was needed for the registration of all the students to avoid disruption in their academic pursuits. (NAN)
