Army Commander Sues For Peace

The new commander, Corps of Artillery, Major General AK Kwaskebe, has said that establishing a cordial civilian and military relationship with host communities, particularly with the royal fathers who have influence on their subjects, will further foster peace in the society.

He stated this when he visited artillery formations and other units, and expressed satisfaction with areas visited and promised to address areas of challenges, particularly on internal security.

The commander also visited the Nigerian Army School of Artillery (NASA) in Kachia, where the commandant, Brigadier General E.I Ogundana briefed him on the activities of the school, particularly in areas of training, condition of equipment, internal security operations and civil/military relations.

Gen. Kwaskebe called on staff and students of the school to identify and work towards the actualisation of the mission statement of the chief of army staff, “To transform the Nigerian Army into a force able to meet contemporary challenges.

He charged them to learn both the conventional and non-conventional procedure in their conduct in order to curtail and tackle the menace of terrorism, ethno-religious conflicts, political disagreement and other forms of crisis, which are all part of the contemporary challenges facing the country.

Other formations visited include 33 and 31 Artillery Brigades, the headquarters of 33 Artillery Brigade in Bauchi, 31 Artillery Brigade in Minna, 301 Artillery Regiment, Gombe, 331 Artillery Regiment, Biu, 333 Arty Regiment, Maiduguri, 303 Artillery Regiment, Jos, 332 Artillery Regiment, Shendam and 313 Artillery Regiment, Minna.
