Tambuwal Urges Youth Council To Withdraw All Court Cases

The Speaker, House of?Representatives,?Alhaji?Aminu?Tambuwal??on Friday called on the leadership of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) to withdraw all its pending court cases.

?The Speaker, who?made the call when the leadership of the?council?visited him in Abuja, said the withdrawal would pave the way for out of court settlement of the contentious issues rocking the council.?

On the crisis rocking the council, which gave rise to?factionalisation of the body, the Speaker appealed to the leadership to withdraw all the cases pending in the courts and then allow for a round table where the issues would be discussed and peaceful resolution reached.?

?‘’ We can have a round table, let our youths for once speak to us with one voice,‘’ the ball is in your court the sooner you resolve this matter the better.’’

He argued that the crisis in the council, if not urgently and properly addressed, would make nonsense of the efforts of government at developing the youth.

He?assured the council that the House of Representatives would continue to make sufficient budgetary provisions in the annual appropriation acts to facilitate implementation of the various youth development programmes which the?government designed for the?youth.?

Tambuwal also said that the House was looking at setting up a youth development fund?to help bring the issue of youth development to practical reality.?

Tambuwal observed that majority of the Nigerian youths were not in school while the employable ones were not employed, a situation he said worked contrary to the objective of youth development policy of the administration.?

The speaker said the youth had right to education, good health and gainful employment, regretting that the nation had failed the youth in that respect.?

He, however, promised that the House under his leadership would look critically into the matter and see how to reverse the ugly trend so that the youth could contribute meaningfully to the development of the country.?

Earlier, Comrade Ajani James, President of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) lauded the Speaker for appointing one of its members as a special assistant as well as representing the interest of Nigerians in the resolutions of the House.?

‘’ Nigeria youths are very proud of you, we have no doubt that you are taking Nigerians to another level.

‘’ We believe in your leadership, you are our icon, and we are looking up to ?you.''

He called on the leadership to assist the organisation in the area of funding. NAN )
