Enugu High Court Grants Bail To Rape Accused

An Enugu High Court Judge, Justice Chiene Nwobodo, on Tuesday granted bail to one Tebe Obonghe, accused of rape.

Nwobodo, who granted the bail in the sum of N100,000, said the accused must produce one surety in like sum, who must be recommended by his counsel and produce evidence of tax payment for the past three years and be resident within the jurisdiction of the court.

The accused was alleged to have on Sept. 29, 2010 at Old Trade Fair Complex on Abakaliki Road, Enugu, conspired with others now at large to have unlawful carnal knowledge of one Onyinyechi Nwachukwu.

The court also on Tuesday adjourned a case of armed robbery involving one Uchenna Umeh till May 30 following a request by the defence counsel, Mr A.N. Nnadozie, that he be allowed to secure some needed documents.

The accused was alleged to have on Sept. 28, 2011 at No. 11 Ozoma Lane, GRA, Enugu, conspired with others now at large to commit felony.

They were alleged to have robbed one Abari Jetubah of his Volkwagen car while armed with a gun.
