The President of the Nigeria Polo Federation Francis Ogboru has said he is very impressed with the just concluded Unity Polo Tournament held in Abuja. The week long tournament which was hosted at the Guards Brigade Club Abuja had 21 clubs with over 80 players.
Speaking to LEADERSHIP SPORTS, he revealed that the organisation and the turn out of the tournament has been very impressive. ‘I am extremely impressed with what I saw since the beginning of the tournament. Organisation was impeccable and I commend the organisers of the tournament. I thank the authorities that allowed them to use a place of such magnitude. Allowing them to use facility like this in the middle of Abuja for this our noble game is impressive and I congratulate the organizers. It was a wonderful tournament, ‘’ he stated
The Guards polo club is presently not under the NPF but the president revealed he will welcome them into the NPF fold with open arms. According to him: “I will be more than happy to accept them into the fold; they have made a request to be a member of the NPF and the governing body will look into it and I am sure they will get a favourable response, that’s why I came to give them that support.”
