Capital Market Probe: Hembe, Azubogu Innocent – Ethics Institute

The Director-General of the Ethics and Corporate Compliance Institute of Nigeria, Dr. Agabaidu Jideani has declared that the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on the Capital Market, Hon. Heman Hembe and his? Deputy Hon Chris Azubogu were innocent of the charges levelled against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) even as he berated the anti-graft body for alleged waste of public funds over the matter.

The duo have been charged by the anti-graft body over their alleged non utilisation of travel allowance made available to them by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for a trip to Dominican Republic.

Speaking in Abuja yesterday Agabaidu faulted the EFCC, for appearing to be wasteful of public funds in prosecuting the duo, since according to him the allegation against the duo does not reveal any criminal activity.

His words: “the National Assembly as well as other public service institutions, have a policy on retirement of allowances, cash advances and other disbursement of funds.
