Kano Uncovers 8,000 Ghost Workers

Kano State government has discovered about 8, 000 ghost workers after a recent biometric data exercise in its civil service.

The state commissioner for Information, Dr. Umar Jibril, who disclosed this to newsmen after the weekly executive council meeting at Government House, Kano, said the council had received an interim report of biometric data exercise in respect of the state and local government staff, and that it revealed over 8,000 ghost workers.

Dr. Faruq said that the state government had inherited over 43,000 workers from the former government of Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, and that from the report, only 34, 000 were cleared by the committee that conducted the exercise.
