Sokoto To Spend N2.9bn On Rural Roads

Sokoto State Government has earmarked over N2.9billion for the construction of four rural feeder roads in the state.

The Governor, Alhaji Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, disclosed this at the weekend during a tour of Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state. He expressed the desire of the government to provide good accessible roads in the areas to enhance transportation for socio- economic development of the state.

Meanwhile, the Governor said that it would cost the government about N 750million to construct the 20-kilometre road linking Bodinga Local Government Area with Kilgore- Bakare in Yabo Local Government Area.

He said that the construction of the road would enhance economic activities in the two LGAs.

Alhaji Aliyu also said that about N544 million was used in constructing the 24-kilometre Fakka – Gudure- Bingaje road in Yabo Local Government Area.

According to the Governor, another N950 million was spent on the construction of a 37 kilometer road from Rundi – Katami – Silame and 40 kilometre? Illela – Gada road .

He said that about N 679 million was spent on the asphalting of 24

kilometre Arkilla- Gumbi- Wamakko- Kalambaina road in Wamakko Local Government Area.

Alhaji Aliyu said that the roads were constructed to link Local Government headquarters in the state to enhance the socio-economic development of the areas and the well-being of the people.
