Aliyu Endorses New Niger Speaker

Niger State Governor Muazu Babangida Aliyu has? expressed confidence in the new speaker of the state Assembly, Adamu Usman, saying he has experience.

?? Aliyu, who was? speaking on the political developments at the state Assembly for the first time yesterday, apparently endorsed Adamu as the speaker even though the governor has always dissociated himself from the happenings in the House, which has had three Speakers in a week, with the last impeachment of Hon. Isah Kawu.

?? Aliyu said the state Assembly had the right to change its leadership as long as they conformed to the rules.

?? The governor, who has been attending public engagements with? Hon Adamu since the latter became speaker, said: “We are happy with you because you have worked as a private lawyer, public servant and now a legislator; you have the experience.”

??? Aliyu assured that the executive was ready to work with the new speaker and? urged the new leadership not to listen to idle gossips and rumours but work for the development of the state.

? Meanwhile, the governor has directed that the secretary to the state government to issue a query to the chairman of the state’s Universal Basic Education Board for failing to attend the Democracy Day ceremony in the state.?

??? The governor had called for the chairman to explain the reasons for the poor state of the classrooms of primary schools in the state capital, Minna, but the man was not at the event.

?The governor said the chairman had deceived him about the state schools, expecially those in the state capital.
