Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof Attahiru Jega, has acknowledged that the commission has not? lived up to the expectation of? Nigerian electorate.
He stated this during the oversight visit of Senate Committee on INEC in Abuja yesterday.
Jega said? that it was a herculean task to institutionalise a culture of free, fair, credible and peaceful elections in Nigeria.
He noted that? the fact that the entire system had been in shambles for long, it would not be an easy task to immediately undertake a total shake-up in the electoral process, which Nigerians are feverishly anxious to see.
