CPC Tasks Yakowa Over Developmental Projects

The Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) caucus in the Kaduna State House of Assembly has called on Governor Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa to utilise his wealth of experience and speed up developmental projects that would have a direct bearing on the lives of the people of the state.

The caucus also tasked the federal government to show commitment in the fight against corruption in all its ramifications, as well as prosecute those indicted in the fuel subsidy and pension fund scams.

The CPC members also charged the federal government to do more in the area of peace and security in the country, especially in the North.

In a press briefing by the minority leader of the House, Dr Shehu Usman Adamu, the caucus noted, that “Democracy will not thrive side by side with corruption, which is manifesting in the affairs of the country.

“We are calling on the governor, who has passed through several administrative cadres to use his wealth of experience to improve on the development of the state in all sectors.”

The caucus said that unemployment was in the increase in the country, with particular reference to Kaduna State, and called on the state government to look into the problem of unemployment and put in place an effective machinery that will arrest the situation through the creation of a conducive and secure atmosphere, provision of skilled programmes for the teeming youth of the state, and the development of irrigation scheme that will provide employment opportunities.

On the conduct of local government election in the state, the CPC caucus urged Governor Yakowa to make all necessary preparations as soon as the bill is passed into law, while calling on the State Independent Electoral Commission (SIECOM) and the security agencies to be unbiased umpires and conduct a free and fair election to ensure peace and stability in the state.

They appealed to the supporters of the CPC and law abiding citizens of the state and Nigeria in general to embrace the spirit of togetherness so that there will be peace in the country.
