NAAPE Strike: Air Nigeria Alleges Sabotage

The management of Air Nigeria yesterday confirmed that its domestic and regional flights were disrupted.

This followed a strike action embarked by a section of its aircraft pilots and engineers under the aegis of the Nigerian Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers [NAAPE].

In a press statement made available to LEADERSHIP WEEKEND and signed by the management, it faulted the action of NAAPE as it did not exhaust the laid down procedures before embarking on the action which the management described as cheap blackmail.

‘’The unfortunate action which is coming without?? due? exploitation of the laid down avenues of negotiations have led to a temporary grounding of our domestic and regional operations. The strike action is uncalled for and a cheap blackmail by NAAPE as only one hour notice was given before the strike action? was embarked upon’’ It said.

While condemning the action of the union, the management queried the rationale behind the strike over? May salary when the union went on strike on the same Month.

It regretted the inconveniences this might have caused its customers and assured that machineries have been put on motion to ensure it did not repeat itself.

Meanwhile, the management has? set up a refund process across its routes? network for passengers who may wish to seek alternative arrangements for their travels.

It reiterated that its daily scheduled flight operations to London still remains as it was not affected by the strike action.
