Djokovic Survives Seppi Scare

Top-seeded Novak Djokovic completed his third career comeback from two sets down yesterday to pull out a 4-6, 6-7 (5), 6-3, 7-5, 6-3 victory over No. 22 Andreas Seppi and keep his hopes alive to win a fourth straight Grand Slam tournament. Djokovic won his 25th straight Grand Slam match but needed 4 hours, 18 minutes to do it against the 22nd-seeded Seppi.

Seppi controlled the first two sets, setting up points by moving Djokovic around and breaking his serve three times. Djokovic found another gear, however, and will move on to his 12th straight Grand Slam quarterfinal. Djokovic’s last two-set comeback was last year at Flushing Meadows, when he saved two match points to beat Roger Federer in the semi-finals.
