Senate Commends AMAC On Project Implementation

Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Smart Adeyemi has commended the chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Hon. Micah Jiba over impressive projects implementation in the council.

Adeyemi, gave the commendation in an address at the commissioning and inspection of projects to mark two years in office of the incumbent AMAC leadership.

He observed that for democracy to be meaningful, leaders must be highly committed to delivering the dividends of democracy to their followers.

Adeyemi further stated that it was a big risk to have a leader who does not have the interest of the people he is leading at heart, saying that Abuja deserves better representation in terms of power resources to better the living standards of residents of the FCT and assured that the Senate was going to look into that aspect in its law making procedures.

“The chairman has done well in the council, and I must say that AMAC will be used as a benchmark to measure other area councils in Abuja.? I want to also state here that democracy can be meaningless without jobs for the people, so I am urging the chairman to map out strategies to set up industries in the council to create employment opportunities for residents.

“He should try to encourage people in the council to set up small scale industries that will create jobs for the people, so that the poverty that is rocking the nation will be reduced from the grassroots.? I must again commend the council for doing so well in projects execution, this will be use as a benchmark to measure other area council’s achievements,” he said.

While delivering his speech, Jiba said the leadership of the council was committed to meeting the demands of residents of the council.

He promised that his administration would do all within its means to meet the demands of the electorate.
