18 People Died In Road Accidents In Kogi In May – FRSC

The Kogi Sector Command of?? FRSC on Thursday confirmed that 18 people lost their lives in 41 road accidents that occurred in different parts of the state in the month of May.

Mr Garba Ibrahim, the Sector Commander told newsmen in Lokoja that 122 victims sustained varying degrees of injuries in the accidents which he said involved 288 passengers.

He attributed the cause of the accidents to over speeding, dangerous driving and brake failure.

Ibrahim said that officials of the commission arrested a total of 729 motorists and cyclists for various traffic offences in May.

He expressed concern at the high figure of offenders arrested in the month of May alone.

He said that the command would intensify efforts on its public enlightenment campaigns to sensitise road users on the need to obey traffic rules.?

Ibrahim, who resumed duty a few days ago as the new sector commander, promised to increase surveillance along Lokoja-Abuja highway to reduce the rate of accident on the road.

He said that motorists would be compelled to obey traffic rules.
