ICPC Denies Investigating Farida Waziri

The Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) yesterday distanced itself from a report by an online media alleging that the ICPC had begun investigation of Mrs. Farida Waziri, former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFFC).

?? The crime for which she was presumably being tried was however not stated.

A statement from the commission yesterday said the online media, Premium Times,? generated the false report from the figments of its imagination. The ICPC pointed out that it was not investigating the former anti-graft boss.

The ICPC maintained that such a story was merely speculative and fell outside the commission’s modus operandi.

“ICPC hereby states that the speculative story by the writer, which he accredited to unsubstanciated sources does not conform with our modus operandi,” the statement said.
