Alhaji Aliyu Musa, the Sokoto State Commissioner of Police, has warned against erecting speed breakers unlawfully?or mounting?road blocks on Federal Highways.
Musa gave the warning on Friday in Sokoto while addressing newsmen.
He said that the command would henceforth prosecute any person or group of persons involved in such acts.
Musa explained that officers and men of the command had been directed to remove all the illegal speed breakers throughout the state and to ensure compliance with the ban.
The commissioner attributed the high rate of accidents and loss of lives across the state to the illegal erection of speed breakers in the state.
He said that the command would not tolerate abuse of traffic rules and regulations in the state.
Musa also called on members of the public to support the police to ensure that the roads were accident-free and safe for users. (NAN)
