24-hour Curfew Imposed In Kaduna Following Explosions And Reprisal

Gov. Patrick Yakowa of Kaduna State on Sunday imposed a 24-hour curfew on the state, following explosions which hit three churches in Zaria and Kaduna.

A statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor, Reuben Buhari, said the curfew was with immediate effect.

The bomb attacked hit CKC Church, Yoruba Road Sabon Gari, ECWA Church Wusasa in Zaria and Shalom Church of God Trikania in Kaduna city on Sunday leaving many dead and many others injured.

The statement stated that the curfew was imposed to avert further loss of lives and destruction of property.

“Government regrets the inconvenience the drastic measure will cause to all and sundry but the state government considers this to be necessary to avert further loss of lives and property in the state again.

“ The governor conveys his deepest condolence and sympathy to all those affected in the bombings,“ the statement said.

It said the state government had directed security agencies to ensure compliance.

The police have yet to confirm the number casualties recorded in the attacks as DSP Aminu Lawal who confirmed the incidents to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) said the command had not received details of the attacks.

Meanwhile, the security agencies have dispersed youths who earlier took over streets of the affected area of the city in a reprisal attacks injuring some residents.(NAN)
