Youths Demonstrate In Kaduna After Bomb Attack On Church

Hundreds of youths took to the streets in Trikania and Gonin-Gora areas of the Kaduna metropolis, protesting against the bomb blast near Shallom Church of God in the Trikania neighbourhood.

Several people, who were wounded in bomb attack, are now receiving treatment at St. Gerard’s Hospital in Kaduna.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the explosion caused panic among the worshippers, who mainly came from the southern part of Kaduna for the church service in the city centre.

DSP Aminu Lawal, the Police Public Relations Officer in the Kaduna State Police Command, confirmed the attempted attack on the church but declined to give further details.

He said that the police command had yet to get details of the situation as at the time of filing this report.

Lawal also confirmed similar bomb attacks on two churches in Sabon Gari and Wusasa areas of Zaria, another town in Kaduna State, but he gave no details on the number of casualties in the attacks.

NAN, however, reports that hundreds of worshippers were seen moving frantically toward the southern part of Kaduna where most of them reside.

Meanwhile, security agencies, including soldiers and policemen, have been stationed at strategic areas across the city, as armoured tanks and men of the “Operation Yaki’’ outfit are now patrolling the streets. (NAN)
