Mai Potiskum Commends Dasuki’s Tour Of Troubled Northern States

The Emir of Potiskum, Alhaji Umar Bubaram, yesterday commended the newly appointed National Security Adviser (NSA) Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd) for his timely initiative of touring the crisis-torn areas of Borno and Yobe states.

The tour is aimed at him holding talks with different groups in the region on how to put an end to the Boko Haram insurgence and bring the security situation in the region under control.

In a statement by his special adviser on Communication and Security Strategy, Mallam Gidado Ibrahim, made available to journalists at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, the Mai Potiskum said President Goodluck Jonathan’s choice of Dasuki, the scion of the Sokoto Caliphate as the NSA was a welcome development. He said “the entire people of Potiskum Emirate are determined to ensure that he succeeds in his current assignment”.

Charging the NSA to use credible and highly intelligent resource persons in the discharge of his duty, the first-class Emir also urged him to look into all pending security cases to enable unravel the sources and sponsors of political crisis within the domain of the Potiskum Emirate.

Mai Potiskum also commended the efforts of the Yobe State Governor, Ibrahim Gaidam, in handling the security situation in the state, saying the wisdom and tact demonstrated by the governor have contributed greatly in ensuring that the attacks did not escalate beyond its present level.
