CJ Nominates 2 Judges To Dispense Cases During Annual Vacation

Justice Lawal Gummi, the Chief Judge of the FCT High Court, has nominated two judges who will hold special sittings for hearing of urgent cases during the annual vacation of the court.

Those nominated are Justices Hussein Baba-Yusuf and Peter Affen.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the FCT High Court will proceed on its long vacation from Monday, Aug. 6 to Friday, Sept. 14, to end the Legal Year.

Baba-Yusuf and Affen's appointments are contained in a letter with reference number FCT/JD/CJ 185/II/253, signed by Gummi and made available to NAN in Abuja on Friday.

The appointment, Gummi said, was in pursuant to Order 47, Rule 4 (1) of the Civil Procedure Rules.

He said that Baba-Yusuf of court 7 in the Maitama High Court Complex and Affen of the Bwari High Court, were to dispose of all urgent matters brought before them which could not wait till the resumption of the court.

The other 37 judges will resume sitting on Monday, Sept. 17 to usher in the new Legal Year. (NAN)
