Police Debunk Crisis Rumour In Kaduna

The Kaduna State Police Command yesterday debunked rumours making the rounds that another crisis was about to befall the state, saying that the rumour was false, baseless and malicious.

However, our correspondent who went round Kaduna metropolis observed that the rumour? had caused serious panic as people hurriedly rushed back to their respective homes for fear of the unknown.

It was also observed that most shops and schools were closed as a result, while the ever busy Kaduna Central Market had very scanty people and the shops remain locked.

Some commercial vehicles quickly deserted the roads, as the very few commercial vehicles operating charged higher fares.

It was further observed that banks which had earlier opened for business activities abruptly closed their gates following the rumours of the crisis.

But the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) DSP Aminu Lawan in a press release? made available to LEADERSHIP in Kaduna said: “the attention of the Kaduna State Police Command has been drawn to a rumour making the rounds in Kaduna to the effect that there is or there will be crisis in Kaduna.

“The rumour is totally unfounded, untrue, baseless and mischievous, and should be ignored by the good people of Kaduna State.

“The police and other security agencies are very much alive to their responsibilities and have effectively deployed their personnel to all the nooks and crannies of the state.”

DSP Lawan assured of the safety of lives and properties of residents and travellers in the state. “Residents and travellers in the state are assured of their safety, please,” he stated.
