The management of the United Company RUSAL Plc, a?Russian company,?says it will obey the Supreme Court's??judgment?on the sale of the?Aluminium Smelter plant in Ikot Abasi, Akwa Ibom.
NAN?recalls that?the?apex court?on Friday?ruled that BFI?Group,?the Nigerian-American consortium that emerged?the preferred?bidder?for ALSCON in 2004, but was disqualified?in an alleged controversial circumstances by the Bureau of Public Enterprise (BPE),?was the?valid winner of the bid.
UC Rusal?took over the plant in 2006 with a bid of $250 million.
?Mr?Albert Dyabin, a Director in UC RUSAL?told a News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Correspondent that the firm was bound to?the verdict.
“UC Rusal ALSCON as part of Rusal respects the judgement of the Supreme Court in Nigeria. At?this time, we cannot make further comments because we are yet to get details.
“?Our operation in Nigeria remains normal,” Dyabin said. (NAN)
