Court Fixes July 4 For Ruling Over Ndume’s Passport

A federal High Court in Abuja has fixed to July 24 for its rulling on the application of Senator Mohammed Aliyu Ndume seeking for the release of his travel documents to enable him to perform Islamic religious rites in Saudi Arabia and seek further medical attention overseas.

Ndume, who is standing trial on an alleged terrorism financing is asking the court to release his passport from its? custody he is standing trial.

At the resumed hearing of the case yesterday, Ndume’s lawyer, Mr. Segun Jolaowo yesterday told the court that the release of the senator’s travel documents would enable him seek further medical attention abroad after performing religious rites in Saudi Arabia.

He said “ We all know the state of our nation’s medical facilities, that is why he wants to travel abroad for medical attention as well perform his religious obligation in Saudi Arabia”.

Opposing the application, the prosecution lawyer Mr. Sunday Mordi, , informed the court that had filed and served a nine- paragraph affidavit on the? July 11 and sought rely on all the avirements in the counter affidavit and adopt it as prosecution’s argument in opposing the application.

“We urge this court to dismiss this application in the interest of justice and the security of the entire nation as granting it will jeopardise the process of this trial. We all know that this country is under siege by the dreaded Boko Haram. We hear tales of bomb blasts in Damaturu, Yobe and Jos”
