FRSC Reads Riot Act To Officers

Mr Kehinde Adeleye, Zone 8 Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), has warned officers and men of the command not to extort money from motorists.

Adeleye, who gave the warning on Monday in Ilorin while on a familiarisation visit to Kwara, warned that any officer caught in the act would be dismissed.

He said that the commission was determined to maintain its dignity and public confidence.

Adeleye said that surveillance team had been mandated to arrest any erring officer caught extorting money from motorists.

“The Commission does not encourage extortion in any form and our surveillance team is out to arrest any operative caught in the act,’’ he said.

Adeleye also warned the public not to entice officials with money.

“If any operative insists on collecting money, motorists should take their names and numbers and dial the FRSC new free talk emergency number 122 on any of the GSM service provider.

“The number could also be used to report cases of emergency,’’ he said.

The commander, however, commended officers and men of the zone for displaying professionalism and upholding the ethics of their job.
