Niger Shops For N200m To Host NATCEGA

Niger State government will be shopping for N200 million to fund the hosting of the Nigeria College of Education Game NATCEGA by the State College of Education, Minna next year.

The commissioner of Higher and technical Education, Dr. Mustapha Lemu, disclosed this yesterday after leading the College’s team to this year’s game in River State where the College came fifth in the medal table.

Lemu said that already the tertiary Education trust fund has released N50 million for the hosting of the games but additional N200 million is needed to be sourced by the State government through direct funding or sponsors.

He revealed that the State College of Education had earlier bid for hosting in 2010 but was not given but the right has been giving for it to host the games in 2013 considering the commitment of the school in the successive games.

According to him, the college won two Gold, three silver and five Bronze medals in the recently concluded games, making the college to be fifth on the table of Medals. Lemu assured that the State would do everything possible to make sure that the State College of Education hosts the games successfully by next year.
