Tension In Enugu Over Abduction Of ESUT Vice Chancellor

Tension is high in Enugu following the abduction of the Vice Chancellor of the Enugu State University of science and Technology(ESUT), Professor Cyprian Onyeji.

LEADERSHIP gathered that the academic was allegedly ambushed and kidnapped at the entrance of the permanent site of the school in Agbani, in Nkanu West Local Government Area of the state.

The ESUT helmsman was said to have been abducted at about? 11.30am by unidentified hoodlums.

It was gathered that the suspected kidnappers have neither contacted relatives of their victim nor made demand for ransom.

The Public Relation Officer of the Enugu State Police Command, Ebere Amaraizu has confirmed the abduction of the Vice Chancellor. He assured that the command was working hard to get to the root of the abduction saga.

“He was allegedly ambushed by the entrance gate of Esut at Agbani” Amaraizu stated.

The Director, Public Relations of ESUT, Ossy Ugwuoti, who also confirmed the incident said no arrest had been made.

Ugwuoti told LEADERSHIP that security operatives “ are doing their job”?

The Public Relations Officer of Enugu State Police Command, Ebere Amaraizu told LEADERSHIP that three policemen were injured “during the ambush”.

He ?however, stated the policemen were not killed in the attack.
