Kidnapped Delta Judge Regains Freedom From Custody

The kidnapped High Court Judge of Delta State, Justice Marcel Okoh yesterday regained his freedom from the kidnappers’ den after spending over a week in their custody.

Justice Okoh was kidnapped by unknown armed gunmen last Tuesday while traveling to Warri in Delta State while on a vacation.
LEASDERSHIP gathered that the kidnappers had demanded N40 million as ransom from Okoh’s family for his release.

It was gathered that the Judge was recently promoted as Judge for High Court 4, before he was trailed from Asaba and kidnapped at Oria, Abraka on that fateful day.

Speaking on his release, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Charles Muka said in an interview in Asaba that the Judge was released yesterday night at Abraka in Delta State.

According to him, “Before his release, several efforts were made by the police to rescue him and to track down the evasive armed gang preying on Deltans and Nigerians as a means of earning a living. The command has put stringent measures in place to stem such tides.”

Muka, however, expressed the command’s appreciation to various vigilante groups and stakeholders for their collaborations and synergy in tracking down hoodlums in the state.
